The Music Portal web application was part of a final assignment project for the Advanced Internet Applications course at Mount Royal University. It was a team project, consisting of myself and three other peers.
The goal and purpose of the application was to consume media from various web services via RESTful APIs and present the information on the web application – the Music Portal. Caching of the popular data was stored in a SQL database to greatly save on the application’s bandwidth. Additional requirements for the application was to allow visitors to register for an account, be able to search artists, be able listen to their music and watch their music videos, and also be able to purchase the artist’s music through amazon or iTunes .
